FAQ’s + Policies

  • We have closed registration for NEW STUDENTS at this time. Please email us if you’d like to be added to the WAITLIST.

After you complete the registration form and submit your registration fee, we will reach out via text to schedule a follow-up phone call.

The registration fee is non-refundable and does not go towards the swim session tuition.

Once you register, your place in the queue is reserved for booking your day(s) + time(s).

  • Payment for the entire session is due in full on the first day your session begins.

Installment payments can be arranged with Hope on an individual basis.

You are paying for your class time slot regardless of how many times you can attend swim lessons.

We accept Venmo, all major credit cards + Apple Pay.

  • If there are cancellations due to pool closures, or an emergency, you will be issued a full refund for that day.

You will only receive a full refund if you drop out of swim lessons 72 hours before your first scheduled swim lesson.

  • You are responsible to be pool ready at your scheduled class time.

When you sign up for your day + time, that is your day and time for the entire 6 weeks.

THERE ARE NO MAKE-UPS OR RESCHEDULING LESSONS.

  • If the student has an illness or injury that results in an extended absence from lessons, please contact us and we will make separate arrangements.

  • Instructor cancellations due to pool closures, inclement weather, or due to an emergency will be fully refunded and based on circumstances, possibly rescheduled.

  • Instructor cancellations due to pool closures, or inclement weather will result in a full refund.

  • Please make sure you and/or your child uses the restroom before the swim lesson.

At GTRS, the pool locker rooms are located underneath the stairs you walk down to get to the pool area.

  • Please ensure you and your children wear proper fitting swimwear and/or swim diaper.

Sunsuits or rash-guards are not recommended to wear in indoor pool environments; this has a tendency to make them colder quicker.

It may be recommended by the instructor to get a half or full wetsuit. The compression and added buoyancy also helps their body retain warmth and eases body tension when learning new skills.

  • A “code brown” from a child (toilet trained and/or not wearing a properly fitting swim diaper) that results in a pool closure, will be fully responsible for the full cost of pool maintenance.

  • Speaking to your child during the lesson is distracting. Interruptions are strongly discouraged.

If there are behavioral issues with your child during the lesson, the instructor will handle the situation with a time-out or loss of privileges. If the issues persist, the instructor will summon you over.

  • We love for you to watch the lesson; however, please keep in mind that children respond to instruction differently when they know their parent/guardian is watching.

For instructor and child safety, we like you either being in eyesight or earshot of your child at all times during the lesson.

  • Before the lesson begins, please get the instructors approval to video or take photos during the lesson. If you are posting on social media, please ask the instructor.

  • It’s not advised to eat or drink 1-2 hours prior to swimming. Swimming is hard work, and it’s best to do it on an empty stomach.

Please show up 10 minutes before it’s time to be in the water.

A few minutes before class time, please walk over and rinse-off in the shower for 30-60 seconds, washing your bottom with soap and water. This is a Michigan State Law.

You are welcome to use the towels provided by The Club.

You are not allowed to enter the water before your swim lesson. Even if you are a resort member, this is “class time” not “play time”.

Please wait until you get a signal from the instructor to enter the water.

  • Sometimes, transitions are tough for children and it’s hard to get out of the pool when the lesson is over.

As the instructor finishes up the lesson, please stand at the exit point with a towel ready. This is a great signal to the child that class is over, and it’s time to get out.

Helping support the instructor is important and greatly appreciated to ensure classes stay on schedule.

  • Creating new muscle memory is a process that requires a lot of repetition, and it doesn’t happen after a few lessons. We are creating important building blocks for critical lifesaving and life-long skills.

Please do not do anything that would interfere with the skills they are building in swim lessons - putting them in puddle jumpers, re-teaching them in your way, etc.
